Making Rounds with Oscar: The Extraordinary Gift of an Ordianry cat
Making Rounds with Oscar is an easy to read book that deals with a difficult illness called dementia. Dr. David Dosa is a geriatrician who treats patients that live at Steere House nursing home and are struggling through the late stages of dementia. This book is made up of various stories of how Oscar the cat, who lives at Steere House, repeatedly knew when a patient was about to die. He would enter the room as the person was nearing his/her end of life and bring comfort to the family member who was there. The doctor goes on a mission to find out how a cat could know this and through this process, the reader learns many lessons about aging, end of life, and how dementia affects the patient as well as family and friends.
Hopeful Heart
A Hopeful Heart is a prairie romance with a mix of mystery and danger that will keep the reader anxious to read on. Tressa Neill is forced to leave her home in the east and travel to Kansas in the year of 1888. She will attend a school for women that will teach her how to be a rancher's wife. Tressa is a timid young lady, who is at the bottom of the pecking order of the others who are also attending Hattie Wyatt's school. As time goes by, she learns to stand up for herself and develops the skills needed to survive out west. A relationship develops with a rancher, Abel Samms, who remains cautious about falling for a girl from out east.
The Noticer
Jones is the Noticer who shows up at just the right time to give someone who is down and out some encouragement. He uses his wisdom to teach others to see life in a different light.
